About The Role

Humane is seeking a Senior Quality Manager to oversee Quality, Compliance, and Reliability. We are looking for someone with a strong technical and analytical background, who will build and lead the quality organization. This role will also own the effort of assessing and quantifying product quality risks during the development process and be responsible for implementing mitigation plans to ensure we release high-quality and high-reliability products to mass production. 

What You Might Do

  • Lead quality activities for Humane products, related to product quality, supplier quality, product reliability and product compliance
  • Build and lead a team of engineers and technicians in these fields; set goals, mentor and manage the team
  • Work cross-functionally internally and with vendors to write and enforce quality control plans (cosmetic + functional tests, sampling plans, etc.) in an NPI environment
  • Develop product + part reliability test standards and plans
  • Own and drive DFMEA, RCA and 8D processes to solve part quality issues
  • Build lightweight quality processes and foster a “culture of quality”
    • Develop an initial quality management system and supplier approval process
    • Develop non-conforming materials + SCAR processes and tracking systems
    • Introduce quality control tools + systems to remotely monitor supplier and CM/JDM performance
    • Own customer quality processes + metrics
    • Develop Quality Roadmap and quality policy
    • Develop quality metrics and lead quality meetings between vendors/CMs/JDMs
    • Develop in-house testing and lab resources to support rapid NPI interaction and root cause analysis for quality issues
    • Oversee product compliance function

Essential Qualifications

  • 8+ years in a Quality Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or similar position in consumer electronics space (or a similar industry)
  • 8+ years defining and managing quality processes at overseas CMs/JDMs 
  • Experience providing technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
  • Ability to travel to factories to support builds, audit suppliers and CM’s/JDMs
  • Strong relationships with (and experience negotiating costs with) outside labs, compliance agencies and reliability test houses
  • Familiarity with broad set of electronics safety standards (ANSI, ISO, IEC, UL families of standards)
  • Willingness to own and execute quality tasks to support rapid NPI timelines
  • Candidate is responsive and adapts quickly to changes in rapid growing environment
  • Candidate is a relationship builder who communicates clearly; is data-driven and analytical; is enthusiastic and motivated

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus
  • Six Sigma certification, CQE certification
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Start-up experience
