About The Role

As a Senior Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer, you will apply your mechanical expertise to solve manufacturing challenges on Humane’s products and manufacturing lines. You will own the FATP line layout and will be accountable for the performance of all assembly fixtures and processes on the line. You will support the Product Development teams, Ops, EPM and a full cross-functional team by setting up, optimizing and ramping the FATP line. You will also provide critical DFM support during product design stages and throughout the NPI cycle, and you will work closely with vendors on manufacturability challenges. You will have an early impact on Humane’s products and will be a key contributor of a high-performing team.

What You Might Do

  • Oversee develop of all FATP lines for Humane products
  • Develop assembly fixtures and jigs collaboratively with partners, optimizing for operator usability, repeatability and cost
  • Advise teams internally on DFM best practices; work closely with the Product Development team
  • Lead assembly fixture debug and buy-off activities; design and manage DOE’s to optimize fixture performance
  • Run time studies and own line-balancing activities; set and meet UPH and OEE targets
  • Own all FATP readiness activities for NPI builds and own Sustaining manufacturing activities (including line + fixture duplication) during and after ramp
  • Design jigs and fixtures for in-house use (e.g. FA, debug, or hand-built devices) and get them built
  • Review and approve all FATP assembly SOP’s
  • Consult on mechanical fixture design for Factory Test fixtures
  • Set yield targets for all FATP assembly stations for all NPI builds and into MP ramp
  • Identify + drive automation opportunities to reduce MVA 
  • Work with suppliers and Product Development team to develop tooling qualification processes; participate in tool reviews and support on quality issues with mechanical piece parts
  • Work with Factory Test Engineers and Product Development to design + implement in-line mechanical tests required on FATP line
  • Collaborate with all cross-functional teams (software, electrical, program management, operations, etc) to deliver a successful product to market

Essential Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in a high-volume Manufacturing Engineering position in consumer electronics space (or similar) 
  • Experience managing overseas CMs/JDMs to manufacture products and set up lines remotely
  • Strong knowledge of core Manufacturing Engineering tools and metrics: DOE, SPC, OEE, UPH, GR&R, etc.
  • Experience providing technical mentorship to junior engineers
  • Automation expertise in high-volume electronics manufacturing
  • Responsive and adapts quickly to changes in rapid growing environment
  • Ability to travel to factories to support builds
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; or equivalent in experience

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus
  • Six Sigma certification (e.g. Green Belt, Black Belt)
  • Experience applying Lean principles to drive improved cycles time and throughput
  • Strong proficiency in MCAD tools (e.g. Solidworks, NX)
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
